Mayo y Junio/ May and June

Ahora que clima mejoró significativamente, hemos tenido una vida social muy activa. Kosmos juega todas las tardes con los vecinos (que pronto se van a mudar). Vamos a carne asadas y picnics los fines de semana. Recibimos una visita de nuestros amigos de Canadá. Pura pachanga!! Hoy Kosmos se va a Suecia con Hjalmar, buen viaje!

Now that the weather had improved significantly, we have had a very agitated social life. Kosmos plays every afternoons with the neighbors. We get invitations for BBQs and picnics every weekend. Our friends from Canada came to visit. Lots of fun! Today Kosmos goes to Sweden with Hjalmar, have a safe trip!

Visita a Canada / Visit to Canada

Estuvimos en Canadá vistando a unos amigos. Las familias que fuimos a visitar fueron nuestros vecinos en Princeton. Estuvimos dos días en Montreal y dos días en Ottawa. En Montreal fuimos al insectario y al jardín botánico donde había una muestra de mariposas. También visitamos una mielería o un rancho donde hacen miel de maple en la region de Quebéc. No saben que delicioso comimos ahí. En Ottawa vimos el parlamento canadiense y vistamos el museo de las civilizaciones donde aprendimos de las culturas nativas de Canadá.

We were visiting some friends in Canada. Both families used to be our neighbours in Princeton. We were dos days in Montreal and two days in Ottawa. In Montreal, we visited the insectarium and the botanical garden with a special butterfly exhibition. We also visited a maple sugary in Quebec, we have very delicious food and obviously amazing maple syrup. In Ottawa we saw the Canadian parliament and visited the Museum of Civilizations, where we learnt about Canadian aboriginal cultures.

Tormentas de nieve / Blizzards

Este año tuvimos varias tormentas de nieve, una especial dejo más de medio metro de nieve. Kosmos no fue a la escuela por dos días y las universidades también cerraron. Siempre después de la tormenta viene la calma y nada como jugar en la nieve. Nosotros nos divertimos mucho!

This year we had several blizzards, one specially strong that brought more than half a meter of snow. Kosmos didn't go to daycare for dos days and the universities are closed. We had so much fun playing with snow and our neighbors!

Vacaciones de invierno 2009 / Winter Vacation 2009

Queremos compartir las fotografías de nuestro viaje a México este diciembre. Lo disfrutamos mucho y conocimos muchos lugares hermosos. Primero llegamos al aeropuerto de Cancún, de ahí nos dirigimos a Tulúm. La segunda parada fue en la Laguna de Bacalar. Seguimos a Calakmul, donde nos encontramos con Montse. Salimos de la selva para trasladarnos a Campeche, donde nos encontramos con abuelita y Tío Car. Vimos a los flamingos en Celestún y manejamos por Mérida para llegar a Valladolid. En la cercanías de Valladolid visitamos Ek' Balam y los cenotes de X'Keken y Sak Múu Já. Finalmente nos fuimos hacia el norte para visitar la reserva de la biósfera de Río Lagartos. Ya era el final de nuestro viaje y de pura suerte la aerolínea nos regaló un día más en Cancún. Espero les gusten las fotos.

We want to share the pictures of our trip to Mexico. We enjoyed very much and saw fantastic places. First we arrive to Cancun airport, from there we went to Tulúm. The second stop was the Bacalar lagoon. We continued to Calakmul where we met Montse. Coming out from the jungle, we went to Campeche to meet grandma and uncle Car. We saw flamingoes in Celestún and drove via Merida until Valladolid. Close to Valladolid, we visited Ek'Balam and the cenotes X'keken and Sak Múu Já. Finally we went north to visit the ecological reserve of Río Lagartos. It was the end of our trip and surprisingly the airline offered us to stay one day more in Cancún for a bonification. Cumpleaños de Kosmos/ Kosmos' Birthday

Este año Kosmos celebró con sus amigos en la escuela. Mami llevó pastelitos para todos sus compañeros y maestras. Todos le cantaron el Happy Birthday. Después teníamos pensado ir al acuario pero cayó una tremenda tormenta de nieve que no pudimos salir en casi todo el fin de semana. Pero pudimos jugar en el nieve el domingo y preparar nuestras maletas para nuestro viaje a México.

This year Kosmos celebrated his birthday at the daycare. Mommy brought cupcakes for all his classmates and teachers. Everybody sang happy birthday to him. We had planned to go to the aquarium but a strong blizzard fell throughout the whole Northeast coast so we couldn't get out. On Sunday we played in the snow and also had time to prepare our luggage for Mexico.

Donde están las cosas salvajes/ Where the wild things are

Después de ser mamá me he cultivado en el género de literatura infantil. "Where the wild things are" es un libro muy famoso y favorita entre los niños americanos. Y resulta que ahora es película (qué raro) y encontré una aplicación donde pude poner la foto de Kosmos. Kosmos se llamó a sí mismo "Kosmax" por "Max" es el nombre del personaje central. Luego les pongo el video de youtube con la animación del libro, el script es exactamente igual al libro.
After being a mom, I learned a lot about children books. "Where the wild things are" is one of the favorite books among Americans and now, guess what, is a movie! Here I made a digital trick so the image of Kosmos appear in the promo poster. Kosmos called himself "Kosmax" after the central character of the book "Max". Then you can see one of Kosmos{ favorite animations of the book in you tube.
